Our Time Capsule

Do Not Open sign

….until the end of the school year!

This is a really fun activity and it is easily differentiated for all ages!

Split a page in half and ask the children to write down, or draw, on the left, their favourite foods, TV shows, games, toys, colour, subject, etc. Put all the sheets in a jar or box and seal it up tight!

The children will enjoy decorating the ‘Time Capsule’ jar or box before you put it on a high shelf for the whole year. They may also put some news of the day items in or other treasures to ‘rediscover’.

They will love opening the time capsule the following June to write all their favourites on the right and compare them.

REMEMBER – Do not open till the last day of school!

Older children may want to make their own list and discuss the headings but here are some other examples you can print out to get started with.

Hopefully you will find some of those ideas useful

Good luck with your new class!

  • Thank you so much for sharing these amazing fun activities to do on day 1. I especially like the idea of spending time telling the children about my own interests. I will definitely be using all of these
