5. First day plans
Have a loose plan of action for your first day with your new class. You will likely want to include a few ‘get to know you’ activities for both you and the children. You can check out the three ways to get your year off to a great start post by Aoife on Teachers’ Corner for a few ideas.
Make sure to include lots of brain breaks and lots of open ended activities to allow you to circulate through the class and start building some positive relationships with both the class as a whole and individuals.
So there you go.
Keep things super simple. The first month of school is for building relationships, establishing routines and creating systems that work for your class. Everything does not need to be done by day one. Allow time for both you and your class to settle in.
