Make an interactive story book from folded paper

This is an activity an individual or small group could complete in a lesson to introduce the idea of interactive stories.  You will only need paper, scissors, a stapler and writing implements.

Cut three or four sheets of A4 paper exactly in half and then fold each strip in half and staple all them together to make a simple book.

After numbering each page, begin writing the first passage at the beginning.  Then add the choice based passages on different random pages, keeping a note of the page numbers.  If there is space, you might add some illustrations.

Indicate the page numbers to turn to for the following passages in the choices. For example:

After weeks of hard travel across sea and mountains you have finally arrived at the border of the Kingdom of Altrea.  The sun is beating down hard and you need to rest.  There looks to be a cave nearby but a few miles further ahead you can see the tall walls of a castle.
