5. Open questions open minds

WHY:
Consider the difference between asking ‘what is the answer?’ and asking ‘what could the answer be?’  It is a simple change, but one that might help a less confident student choose to volunteer a response.

TRY:
If you detect some confusion, ask some open questions. This can help reveal the nature of misconceptions. Keep notes of potential answers and solutions (interactive whiteboards can keep a temporary record of any notes made) and then, when they have been discussed and progress made, you can go back to your notes and review them.

Teachers' Corner

At Folens, we believe that educators sharing insights and experiences with each other is crucial to improving education for all. Teachers’ Corner is edited by teachers, with teachers and for teachers.
